Dear Friends,
A few years ago I was a bit pessimistic about the way things were going in our country. Well, maybe, a lot pessimistic. It was hard to get my brain past the immediacy of what was happening in our world. It didn’t take me long to realize that my attitude was not helpful. It needed some adjusting.
So I decided to focus on gratitude, specifically starting each day by name three things I was thankful for. This practice was helpful as it reminded me that no matter what is happening we can identify things for which we can be grateful. I no longer have this as a daily practice but I still go back to it if I am feeling overwhelmed by life.
As I write this I am in Bremerton Washington with my family. We had a wonderful celebration yesterday. Our day started with a rainy 5k. Then like millions we gathered for feasting and football. I am grateful for the time we had together.
In addition to family, I am grateful for friends and all the fun things we do together… run, hike, paint, eat, and various adventures.
I am also grateful for the time I was blessed to serve as your interim pastor. You are a wonderful community. I look forward to seeing how you all continue to live into your mission of being a shepherding force. What will this look like? What you are already doing is part of it, and also what you will be doing as you serve together.
As you celebrate Thanksgiving, what are you grateful for?
Peace in Christ,
Pastor Nancy
