Beloved Community,

As we read about Jesus' baptism in Matthew 3:13-17, we witness a profound moment of divine affirmation - 'This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.' This scene echoes the majesty described in Psalm 29, where God's voice thunders over the waters with power and glory.

Just as these scriptures speak of God's presence in moments of transition and blessing, we at ALC Burbank are entering our own season of new beginnings.

On behalf of the church council, I am pleased to announce that Chelsea Kadovitz Gallen will begin serving as our Synodically-Authorized Minister on February 1st. Minister Chelsea brings over a decade of dedicated study in Lutheran theology and comparative religions, along with a natural gift for delivering thoughtful, well-crafted, and heartfelt sermons that touch our hearts and deepen our faith.

As we follow Jesus's actions to be a shepherding force by accepting, embracing, and nurturing all of creation, this transition offers us renewed opportunities to live out our calling.

Like the waters of baptism that mark our identity as God's beloved children, this new chapter in our congregation's life reminds us that God continues to work through our community in powerful ways.

We invite you to join us in prayer and support as we move forward together, trusting in God's guiding voice and presence among us.

With joyful anticipation,

Ric
