Beloved Community,

As Christmas draws near, this week's readings remind us of how God communicates with us in unexpected ways.

In Matthew's Gospel, we encounter Joseph receiving divine guidance through a dream - a reminder that God often speaks to us in our most vulnerable moments, even while we sleep.

This resonates with me personally, as I recently experienced a delightful vivid dream that included Benson Boone and Glinda (from Wicked) that left me reminiscing, and pondering its meaning, much like Joseph must have done with his own divine dream.

Isaiah's words complement this theme with the reassurance: "Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God." Whether through dreams, scripture, or the quiet whispers of the Spirit, God continues to guide and comfort us.

As we prepare to celebrate Christ's birth, let us remain open to how God might be speaking to us today.

With hope and gratitude,

Ric
