Dear Friends,

As many of you know, I like to paint as a hobby. For the past few months I’ve been gathering with a couple friends to do video painting lessons. Three of us paint the same topic, with the same instructions, and produce similar yet different paintings. I love that each of us has different interpretations.

The technique that is most repeated is layering. Before learning to paint I had no idea that so many layers were involved. Layers provide depth and contrast. The painting that I’m sharing with you has more layers than I can remember!

We encounter layers in life as well, but rather than add them we often need to gently burrow through them to understand what might be happening.

I think that when we are able to do this, rather than go with our first reaction to anything, we have better understanding.

What about you? What have you learned when burrowing through the layers?

I’d love to hear from you. Meanwhile, blessings in your worship tomorrow.

Peace,

Pastor Nancy
